Research Toy Story 3 Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 has nothing to do with the actually film; it does not contain any footage from the film itself. This sort of teases the audience by showing them something they haven’t seen before but it still has nothing to do with what they really wanted to see.

The teaser trailer introduces the audience to most if not all the main character from the previous Toy Story, this makes the audience feel welcomed as they already know the characters. Even though the teaser trailer has no footage from the final film Toy Story 3 in, it shows a funny clip with various jokes in making the audience laugh and making them want to watch the actual film when it comes out as it seems as if it shall be funny as well. The characters in the clip actually introduce their own film by building a sign saying Toy Story 3 on it. This is a good and funny way to introduce the film.

The Mise-en-scene in the teaser trailer has been done so that it is a familiar setting for the audience, showing them Andy’s room who own all the toys. The music is also familiar as it uses the same song as the other two pervious Toy Story films ‘you’ve gotta friend in me’.

At the start of the teaser trailer it shows the opening Pixar titles showing the audience that the same company is making the 3rd film as the 2nd and 1st, making it have a good link as the last two films were very good, this would make the audience want to see the 3rd film Toy Story 3.
The camera shots and angles used in the clip were done naturalistically making the clip look good, there was nothing special about the shots but the main viewing point of the clip was the characters themselves making it funny with the script.

At the end of the clip the title of the film is shown twice and then the release date is shown this tells the audience all they need to know about the film if the want to watch it. The actors used to do the voices of the characters are familiar and they are well-known, this makes the audience think if they are in it then it must be good-Tom Hanks returns to voice Woody, Tim Allen returns as Buzz, and Joan Cusack is back as Jessie.

From Watching this teaser trailer I have learnt that I will need to show both a title for the film and the films release date in my trailer. The footage does not necessarily have to actually be from the film and it is always good to use gimmicks like jokes and well known things (like music) to grab the attention of my audience.
